Anthem Ventura is part a family of churches helping people find their way back to God. The Anthem family of churches is united around shared mission, vision, values, and submission to the Lordship of King Jesus. In our cities, we are working to obey Jesus in helping people find their way back to God.
Anthem Community Guide
Sunday, May 23, 2021
The Community Guide below is based on Sunday’s sermon. As your whole Community gathers (online or in-person), use the Community Guide below to give shape to your time together.
Anthem is one church made up of many communities, practicing the way of Jesus together in our city.
Together, we are becoming resilient disciples, who are a faithful family in the face of cultural coercion, live a vibrant life in the spirit, and are empowered as a courageous missional presence in our world.
We live this out by organizing everything we do around three goals: be with Jesus, become like Jesus, do what Jesus did.

John 3v22-36 - He Must Increase, I Must Decrease
Read the text aloud before watching the video.
Remember, the goal isn’t to get through all the questions, but to stir conversation that leads us to Jesus and action.
– What are your biggest takeaways from the sermon & the Scripture?
– How does John’s understanding of his identity & purpose shape ours?
– What’s does “He must increase, but I must decrease” mean for us & everyday living?
– How does eternal life give us both a future and a present perspective?
– How will you live differently in light of this text?
In addition to singing, there are few different ways we respond to the word of God.
“Godliness with contentment is great gain. We bring nothing into this world, and we take nothing out of it. We who call Jesus Lord devote ourselves to resisting greed, which plunges the human heart into ruin, and pierces it with many griefs. We are determined to practice generosity with free hearts, fixing our hope on God and not the uncertainty of wealth. We desire to be rich in good deeds and willing to share all that we have, laying up for ourselves treasure that will not decay but will shine in the age to come. Amen.”
How to give:
– Online → or in the Anthem app
– Via check or cash (use the giving envelopes provided)
Share a short prayer, liturgy, or scripture reading, or the following Scripture can be read:
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. – 1 Corinthians 11v23–26
Spend a few minutes praying for each other and remind your community to be sharing prayer requests via the group chat during the week.
